It feels like we're starting over...a fresh start. I didn't realize it's been almost 5 months since I've been in touch here. Here's why...in my last newsletter, I shared our adventures in Europe in March/April. It was a wonderful trip - 7 countries in 3-1/2 weeks including a "Tulips and Windmills" river cruise. In May, I taught a workshop in western Nebraska with some wonderful students. The first two weeks of June, we were in Hawaii with my sister and her husband. So grateful we got our traveling in when we did...
Three days after we returned, hubby Don started having some troubling symptoms similar to when he had his heart attack in 2017. Fast forward to July 15th... after a heart catheterization showed several blockages, Don underwent triple bypass surgery, then a second emergency surgery two days later. It was pretty traumatic but, praise God, he is recovering well! For those of you who knew what we were going through, thank you for your prayers, calls, cards and messages of support. Needless to say, creating art was the last thing on our minds. Our gallery has been open by appointment only all summer. Beginning October 10th, we will return to regular gallery hours. Check our website for exact hours. Thanks so much for your support and understanding during these challenging few months.
Due to restrictions on Don's ability to lift or put pressure on his sternum, there's a chance he may not be able to create much of his beautiful lathe and segmented work in time for the holidays. We do have a nice selection of his existing work currently available though. Here are some of our personal favorite pieces. One of his most popular designs is his Open Segmented Vase. These two have added accents made of padauk wood. It's a beautiful red color as you can see here. These vases come with a glass cylinder vase insert, so you can use them with fresh or artificial flowers, or with a battery operated candle for a stunning lantern effect.
